The Last Gasp for 2006
The general route
Similar to the Sheep Fancier's Tour, we'll be touring South East Wales.
We're starting near Monmouth/Chepstow, where there is relatively secure parking and some workshop facilities.
Start time and duration
We start at 09:30am sharp(ish) so turn up early to make sure you'll be ready in time.
It'll be an all-day run, with a return to base before dark. There'll be a stop for lunch, so bring money or a packed lunch or both.
Skill level
We're no world champions (apart from Mark), but this run is not really intended for raw beginners. That said, this is a 'help thy neighbour' run, so there will always be someone there to drag you out of the ditch/hedge/rut. Chat with Mark if you're not sure about whether the ride is right for you.
Cancellation policy
If the weather conditions are really bad, we'll call it off. If that's the case, I'll call you on or before the morning of the ride to let you know.
Maps optional, but if you're a nerd...
Meeting place and most riding on OS Landranger 171 (1:50,000) 'Cardiff & Newport'. Meeting place and some riding may be on OS Explorer OR14 'Wye Valley & Forest of Dean'. May be some riding on OS Landranger 161 'Abergavenny & the Black Mountains'.
What else should I bring?
Packed lunch, or money for when we stop at some suitable establishment.
A phone if you want, but this Wales, so coverage is patchy.
Waterproofs, coz we there may be a few stream crossings of sensible depth, and waterproofing for comfortable feet is recommended
If you're going to be late...
Call 07941 42 77 74 and throw yerself upon Mark's mercy.
